Turnberry Towers is a residential high-rise condominium project located in Las Vegas. Turnberry Towers is one of those developments that has been hit pretty hard by the current real estate downturn. Brand-new, never-lived-in resale units and penthouses are sometimes selling for less than what the seller paid during pre-construction. Let’s take a quick look at the latest inventory. As everyone knows, the overall U.S. economy is going through enormous challenge. While nobody denies times are tough in the Las Vegas real estate market, the facts behind why it’s so tough to build luxury high-rise condominium towers (on or near the Strip) get misconstrued. On one hand, from Panorama Towers luxury condos to MGM Signature furnished hotel condos, it seems April is beginning to shower some luxury Las Vegas condo and hotel condo resale choices in the $300,000’s. Conversely, the upper end of the luxury Las Vegas condo market continues to do well in luxury high rises on the Strip like Sky Las Vegas. The implosion of the Frontier Hotel was a celebrated event for the Las Vegas Strip. And now, things just got that much better. On March 19th, 2008, The Plaza Hotel Las Vegas received final approval from the County Commission. The approval gives ELAD Properties the green light for what is being billed as the most luxurious hotel and luxury condominium development in Las Vegas Strip history. In a confident move based on several factors, MGM MIRAGE raised prices 3% at CityCenter (across the board), on March 1st, 2008. While penthouse pricing wasn’t affected, all other condominium units at Veer Towers, Mandarin Oriental, Vdara Condo Hotel, and The Harmon Residences experienced the price increase. As the U.S. media continues to spread doom and gloom, several recent successes on the Las Vegas Strip cannot be denied.
