MGM’s CityCenter now to cost over $9 Billion - When will reality set in?

Just as most experts agreed, the cost to build luxury condominiums on the Las Vegas Strip would have to increase because of land prices and construction costs, putting that much more emphasis on prime-location properties. Case and point? What was once thought to be a $6 billion or so development, MGM recently announced that the total cost to build its CityCenter project has now increased to over $9 billion.

Station Casinos announces plans for a possible $10-billion mega-resort west of the Las Vegas Strip

Station Casinos has announced plans to build a $10-billion development just west of the Las Vegas Strip. The project (for now) is being called Viva, and is expected to consist of several casinos, hotels, and possible Las Vegas high-rise condominiums. The implosion of the Frontier Hotel was a celebrated event for the Las Vegas Strip. And now, things just got that much better. On March 19th, 2008, The Plaza Hotel Las Vegas received final approval from the County Commission. The approval gives ELAD Properties the green light for what is being billed as the most luxurious hotel and luxury condominium development in Las Vegas Strip history.
