Construction Update: Very nice looking grey and yellow colored glass is starting to be installed on Veer Towers, two leaning luxury high-rise condominium towers on the Las Vegas Strip. Veer Towers consists of approx. 674 residential condos, divided up into two separate buildings. The success of MGM MIRAGE CityCenter (an $8.4 billion development) is good news for the local Las Vegas real estate market. While the media refuses to tell few positive stories happening in Las Vegas (especially on the Strip), CityCenter has set several records and has sold over $1.6 billion in real estate in just over a years time. In a confident move based on several factors, MGM MIRAGE raised prices 3% at CityCenter (across the board), on March 1st, 2008. While penthouse pricing wasn’t affected, all other condominium units at Veer Towers, Mandarin Oriental, Vdara Condo Hotel, and The Harmon Residences experienced the price increase. As the U.S. media continues to spread doom and gloom, several recent successes on the Las Vegas Strip cannot be denied. While some good location penthouse inventory remains, many of the prime location penthouses at MGM MIRAGE CityCenter have sold or have been taken off the market for Dubai World clients. MGM MIRAGE’s The Harmon Hotel, Spa & Residences is a unique project with only 207 units and Las Vegas’ first MR CHOW restaurant. Elvis would have turned 73 this past January. Many fans commemorated his birthday by laying flowers around his bronze statue at the Las Vegas Hilton. It was here (formerly the International Hotel and Casino), that Elvis sold out over 800 consecutive shows in the 1970’s. During his historic run Elvis lived in a specially designed penthouse suite that was for all all practical purposes the first Las Vegas high-rise condo, this hotel occupied the entire top floor of the hotel that at the time was the largest in the world.
