The Las Vegas Strip is approx. a year and a half away from adding one of the world’s finest hotels to its roster - and its name is ARIA Resort & Casino. On Monday, May 19th 2008, MGM is expected to make an announcement that the 61-story center attraction of its approx. $9.2-billion mega-resort CityCenter development has been named. Just as most experts agreed, the cost to build luxury condominiums on the Las Vegas Strip would have to increase because of land prices and construction costs, putting that much more emphasis on prime-location properties. Case and point? What was once thought to be a $6 billion or so development, MGM recently announced that the total cost to build its CityCenter project has now increased to over $9 billion. Construction Update: Very nice looking grey and yellow colored glass is starting to be installed on Veer Towers, two leaning luxury high-rise condominium towers on the Las Vegas Strip. Veer Towers consists of approx. 674 residential condos, divided up into two separate buildings. The success of MGM MIRAGE CityCenter (an $8.4 billion development) is good news for the local Las Vegas real estate market. While the media refuses to tell few positive stories happening in Las Vegas (especially on the Strip), CityCenter has set several records and has sold over $1.6 billion in real estate in just over a years time. Station Casinos has announced plans to build a $10-billion development just west of the Las Vegas Strip. The project (for now) is being called Viva, and is expected to consist of several casinos, hotels, and possible Las Vegas high-rise condominiums. The implosion of the Frontier Hotel was a celebrated event for the Las Vegas Strip. And now, things just got that much better. On March 19th, 2008, The Plaza Hotel Las Vegas received final approval from the County Commission. There are a lot of factors when pondering this question. First, let’s define what “the strip” is: The Las Vegas Strip is a contiguous 4.17-mile stretch of Las Vegas Blvd. bounded on the south by Mandalay Bay and on the north by Sahara. That’s the official definition.
