The national press is searching for horror stories about the Las Vegas high-rise luxury condo market. Recently, I received a call from a journalist looking for information on how horrible it had become to live in high-rise condominium properties such as Panorama Towers and Turnberry Towers. The journalist wanted to talk to owners who were going through foreclosures, seeking stories about how their quality of living has been impacted, trying to see if the buildings amenities had been compromised. A couple of years ago, Turnberry Place, which was the first luxury high-rise condo built near the Strip, was symbolically replaced as the dominant high-rise development in the Resort Corridor. Towers like Majestic, Icon, and Las Ramblas were going to be bigger and better. Elvis would have turned 73 this past January. Many fans commemorated his birthday by laying flowers around his bronze statue at the Las Vegas Hilton. It was here (formerly the International Hotel and Casino), that Elvis sold out over 800 consecutive shows in the 1970’s. 2007 Saw nearly as much demolition as new construction on the Las Vegas Strip, Much of the demolition was to make way for multi-billion dollar mega resorts and luxury high-rise condos that will be part of these new properties.
