$3 Billion Fontainebleau Resort tops off its Convention Center; Colorful Facade to Follow

At 25 stories, the convention center at the Fontainebleau Resort is quite an imposing structure. Next door, residents of the 800 unit Turnberry Place condominium complex anxiously await the final product that will reside just west of the luxury enclave.

When the initial plans were announced for the convention center many residents of Turnberry Place were wary of the massive structure since the vertical footprint is only 110′ from the Turnberry property line.

To most, is was a pleasant surprise to learn that the developers went to great lengths to minimize the impact of the close proximity of the two properties. For example they designed a non-forced air ventilation system that will mute all direct light and sound from the Convention Center. The facade is actually a complex system of inverted louvered panels that will be mounted at varying lengths for the skin of the building. The panels will be multiple colors of blue and white and will present a striking visual appearance.

Only time will tell what the final product will look like. One thing we know is that Turnberry residents who feared they might be starring a 25 story stucco wall can rest easy. Yes, wide open views are getting harder to come by, but this is after all, The Las Vegas Strip!
